5mm White Oak Solid Wood, 300mm x 100mm sheet
These solid White Oak wood sheets measure 300mm x 100mm x 5mm offer excellent durability and a high-quality finish. They are perfectly suited to be cut and engraved on a laser cutter and can also be worked and finished by hand. As these sheets are solid wood, they can also be worked around the edges in a much more pleasing way than is possible with veneered MDF or plywoods.
White Oak is a very versatile material and is a popular choice for arts and crafts, interior designs, trophies, giftware, marquetry, box making, luthiery, furniture restoration, and much more. White oak is more variable in colour than standard European oak and can range from a yellow-brown to a reddish-brown and sometimes with an additional slight pink tint. The colour variations are all quite pale, making White Oak a good platform for wood staining.
As wood is a living natural material, each panel is unique. The general appearance and visible structures will vary from sheet to sheet. When storing wood, it is important to do so in an environment where temperature and humidity are fairly constant. Also, before working the wood, it is beneficial to allow the wood to acclimatise to its new environment first. All sizes are nominal as they can change depending on the amount of water content at the time of measurement.
The wood is supplied sanded to a smooth finish but is completely untreated. This gives you the freedom to apply any finish you desire, such as varnish, paint, wax and polish, or wood stains. These finishes on top of laser engraving or carving can be to great effect.
