Though Megan (Knightley) is 28 years old, an age when many women would be looking to settle down, she remains young at heart – to the extent that she flees when her boyfriend Anthony (Mark Webber) proposes to her. Informing the bewildered Anthony that she will be away at a conference for the next week, Megan instead seeks refuge with 14-year-old Annika (Moretz). The opportunity to relive her adolescence through hanging out with Annika and her friends clearly appeals to Megan, but will her growing relationship with the girl’s father, Craig (Rockwell), force her to face reality at last?
